Overview

Specialty Fashion Group (SFG) made a strategic decision to improve its business intelligence capabilities.

After implementing the proCube™ Business intelligence platform SFG expanded the scope to include improvements in Financial Reporting and other modelling features. Philip Hattingh, General Manager commented “I never expected it to be as far reaching as it has been. It has far exceeded my initial vision”.

Background

Two years ago acquiring accurate, consistent and up-to-the-minute business information and reports from across the group relied on a plethora of business spreadsheets, historical data files and key personnel to put it all together.

With anticipated business growth and an increasing need for information transparency and integrity, management at SFG looked for systems to streamline their operational and financial business processes.

The proCube™ Solution

New to his role and with a vision in mind, Philip set about consolidating information and embarked on the implementation of licensed proCube™ modules with the guidance and technical expertise of the Satori Group.

Modules were introduced progressively and included:

  • Business Intelligence modules
  • Financial Reporting modules and
  • Business Modelling tools to enhance processes in functional areas

Phillip believed that access to key business information was the logical starting point. Daily and weekly management reporting systems were the first modules to be developed and implemented. Once these modules were established, the focus shifted to Financial Reporting needs which included automating monthly reporting for Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cashflow and Store/Brand reporting.

These modules were followed by the development of additional Modelling Tools e.g. the “Capital Investment Program” model to evaluate all store movements in the business and the “Labour management and incentive programs” to consolidate, track and monitor labour data through the group.

The results

According to Mr. Hattingh “We now have a myriad of dynamic credible management information available to the business on an intranet platform. We found productivity improvements across many functional areas and one version of the truth assists us to make better business decisions."
